We are delighted to inform you that we are celebrating a partnership in the arts with Amas Musical Theatre. Twice a week, beginning the week of February 24th- April 10th, your child will participate in a Broadway Babies Residency with accomplished Teaching Artists Amelia Nickles (M.F.A. in Acting, Harvard University) and Abigail Galleta Canafe (B.A. in Music, University of California, Berkeley) to learn foundational musical theatre and drama performance skills in singing, acting, and dancing and rehearse group numbers from Broadway shows!
At the end of the learning series, we will be hosting a culminating event you will be invited to; where our children will showcase their new theater skills.
Below are some of the skills Broadway Babies will focus on with students:
Your child’s teacher will let you know which day the residency will be visiting their classroom. We encourage students to bring water bottles to school so that they stay hydrated while dancing and singing.
The culminating Grade 1 performance will take place on April 10th in our school auditorium. More details will be forthcoming.

Welcome back returning P.S. 197 families, and a great big welcome to our new P.S. 197 families! We hope the first days of school have been enjoyable. We are thrilled to be a part of such a diverse community, and we look forward to promoting inclusion, engagement and family empowerment.
