School Garden

The children at P.S. 197 have been learning about healthy living and taking care of our earth.  In order to expand our emphasis on recycling, and ecological issues, we have a school/community garden. Gardens provide a dynamic and safe environment to promote inquiry based learning through hands-on experiences. Growing a garden also helps promote physical activity, motivates kids to eat and love fruits and vegetables, and builds teamwork, leadership skills, and self-confidence.

This endeavor has broad support from our student body, parents, and administration.
