A place to visit to see all the exciting things happening at PS 197!
Our own Ashley Martin (SBSF Team) invited volunteers from Target to come to our school and read their favorite book to our students. They had such a great time and the kids loved it! We had to drag them out of the classrooms when it was over. The kids did not want them to leave! There is nothing like a good story being read out loud. Thanks to everyone who coordinated this special event.
Flash Mob at Washington Square Park!
Our Urban Arts Teacher, Yvonne, took 27 kids to NYU for their "Distinguished Faculty Performance". They ate in Washington Square Park and while there did an impromptu performance for the lunchtime crowds.
Read Across America Celebration at P.S.197! Visit our Padlet to see all the wonderful events happening in our classrooms! Thanks to Ms. Atlas for coordinating this wonderful celebration at P.S.197
Please visit our Padlet site to view all the wonderful projects at PS197 to celebrate the 100th day of school.

Members of the PS 197 community attended an award ceremony today to accept $285,000 in funds to be used to establish a STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) Lab on the fifth floor of the building. The funding was awarded by Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams.
PS 197 submitted a proposal last year requesting money to install a Maker Space, purchase portable technology stations and 3D printers. With the addition of this equipment, the school will be able to join the Brooklyn Engineering Pipeline, a multi-school effort to provide STEM skills for students from “cradle to college”.
Councilman Chaim Deutsch has awarded PS 197 funds totaling $159,127 for the purpose of upgrading school computers and purchasing new Smartboards for our classrooms. Councilman Deutsch’s continued support has enabled the school to install Smartboards in almost every classroom, as well as purchase Ipads and laptop carts for every grade.
